| Sicily Culinary and Cultural Tour |
Sicily has been described as an enchanted island and with good reason. It is home to gods and goddesses of Greek myth, a crossroads of cultures, and the historic breadbasket of ancient Rome. The blending of cultures has produced a unique cuisine with Arab, Roman, French and other influences. In search of traditional Sicilian home cooking To Grandmother's House We Go Cooking Tours, working with our teachers in Sicily, has developed a unique tour experience for you.
This tour will open a window to Sicily - its cuisine and culture - with a small group that will receive personal attention from Sue Baldassano and Jeff Rickin, owners of To Grandmother's House We Go. They have led tours to Sicily since 2001 and are happy to share their knowledge and experience with you.
The cooking classes concentrate on simple, delicious food and allow for hands on participation. The classes are both relaxed and informative. Enjoy the company, have a glass of wine and your dinner prepared right before your eyes. In addition, we will be sampling Sicilian wine and olive oil, cheese and chocolate and much more.
`
Sicily is not food alone. You will visit an archeological park, two wineries, Mount Etna, , a rural museum, a working dairy farm, a nature reserve and other places of interest. All visits will be fully guided with bilingual guides.
Ortigia, surrounded by water is our home for six full days. Located on the Ionian Sea, this mythic city of Magna Graecia (Greater Greece) has preserved the ancient streets and buildings of Sicily's rich past.
The tour is limited to no more than 10, reserve your place early so as not to miss this tour to the island of enchantment - Sicily.
